RepoSwitch exists because no one was building the store we actually wanted. So we built it ourselves.
I bought my child a Nintendo Switch game for $70. He played it for about three minutes and didn't like it.
I took it to a major game store. They offered $20. That didn't feel right.
So I tried selling it online. It worked eventually for around $50. But it took time, messages, no-shows, and a lot more effort than it should have.
At that point, the problem was obvious.
There was no simple, reliable place where you could just swap one game for another with a fair, predictable outcome. Not maximise profit. Not gamble on resale. Just a stable way to keep playing without wasting money or time.
That idea stuck.
How we got here
We started small. A basic website that could only sell. Most of the actual swapping still happened through Facebook groups and community chats.
But something happened: people got it. Neighbours, local players, parents all recognised the same problem. And they understood the idea: there should be a better way than buy at $70, sell at $20.
For a long time, the limitation was not the idea. It was the tools. No existing store builder could model what Swap actually needed. So we would hit a wall, shelve it, and try again a few months later.
With newer technology, we finally had the means to build this properly. Not as a workaround, but as a real, structured way to trade, buy, and swap games.
